Mouse: P.I. For Hire - The Ultimate Weapon Upgrade Guide

Mouse: P.I. For Hire - The Ultimate Weapon Upgrade Guide

1. The Golden Rule: Don’t Miss Out!

In Mouse: P.I. For Hire, the city of Mouseburg is a dangerous place, and your guns are your best friends. But here is the most important thing you need to know: The game is linear, and there is no “Level Select.”

If you miss a Blueprint (the items used to upgrade guns) in a mission and move on to the next one, you can never go back to get it. This makes every Blueprint very valuable!

2. How Upgrading Works (The 1-3-5 Rule)

Every gun has three levels of power. To upgrade them, you need to spend Blueprints at the workbench in your office. The cost increases each time:

  • Tier 1: Costs 1 Blueprint
  • Tier 2: Costs 3 Blueprints
  • Tier 3 (Max): Costs 5 Blueprints

To fully max out one gun, you need a total of 9 Blueprints.

3. Doing the Math: The Big Achievement

There is a special achievement called “We’ll B.A.N.G., ok!” which requires you to fully upgrade 8 different weapons. Here is the math for that:

8 weapons x 9 Blueprints = 72 Blueprints needed.

There are 89 Blueprints in the whole game. This means you can afford to miss 17 Blueprints and still get the achievement. It sounds like a lot, but they are very easy to miss!

4. Top 3 Weapons to Upgrade First

Not all guns are created equal. Here are the ones you should focus on:

  • James Gun (Thompson): This is your all-around best friend. It has a high fire rate and plenty of ammo. Upgrading it to Tier 3 makes it super steady with almost no recoil.
  • Boomstick (Shotgun): Perfect for close-range combat. Level it up to get “Piercing Shots” that can hit multiple enemies at once.
  • Micer Pistol: Don’t ignore your starting gun! At Tier 3, it gets an “Auto-Tracking” mode that helps you hit targets from far away.

5. Don’t Forget the Boss Loot!

Even if you have enough Blueprints, you can’t reach Tier 3 (the max level) without special items dropped by Bosses. For example:

  • Crocodile Scales: Dropped by Vic Gatto. Needed to max out the James Gun.
  • Ghost Essence: Needed to give your Pistol the auto-tracking ability.

6. Quick Safety Checklist

  1. Save Often: The game gives you 50 save slots. Use them! Before finishing a big mission, save in a new slot so you can go back if you realize you missed a Blueprint.
  2. Check Every Corner: If you see a wooden pallet or a cracked wall, break it. Blueprints are often hidden behind them.
  3. Talk to Everyone: Some side missions give you up to 4 Blueprints just for choosing the right dialogue!
